Family Read Aloud Program: We will resume our Family Read Aloud Program later this month. A book from our Sunshine library is sent home with each child to share with his or her family. Once the book is returned to school, the child will receive another book. Books are handed out at random and every effort is made to avoid repeats. Our goals are to promote literacy, to develop an interest in reading, and to expose families to the variety of children’s literature available.
VIP Day: Get ready to join us for Pajama Day! We will be combining our Beds & Bunks unit with our Very Important Person Days this month on Monday, April 10, Tuesday, April 11, and Wednesday, April 12 (see schedule below). Children may invite one adult VIP to join him or her at school for some fun and games and a special snack. Children and VIPs wear pajamas to school – bring a blanket and stuffed animal if you would like! Invitations have been emailed to families – please pass along to the VIP if necessary.
Fresh Fruit: Thank you to all of the parents who have already volunteered to bring in fresh fruit to supplement our regular snacks! As mentioned in a previous email, we are looking to supplement our current snack repertoire with fresh fruit. We are asking any families who would like to contribute to follow this link to an online sign-up to take a turn bringing fresh fruit. All fruit must be whole – we will clean and prepare according to state and national standards. As stated, this is to supplement the current snacks that are provided by Sunshine. We are always prepared to serve another snack if volunteer slots do not fill, a child who is signed up to bring fruit is absent, or someone forgets. We appreciate any contributions!
Spanish Clubhouse: After our first successful year, we are thrilled to announce that we will be offering Spanish Clubhouse again next year! We are now taking registrations for next year’s Center School students (Kindergarten and Grade One). This is not just for Sunshine grads, so spread the word!
Spanish Clubhouse is a fun program for Kindergarten and First Grade children to learn Spanish with our very own highly-qualified Señora Dunn. Each Tuesday that Center School is open (38 total), children take the bus directly from Center School to Sunshine Preschool for a snack and some Spanish fun! Activities include music, games, movement and crafts. We will incorporate activities related to Spanish countries to expose children to other cultures. Pick up is at Sunshine at 5:00.
The cost for transportation, Spanish instruction, and snack is $1,200 for the school year. A $100 deposit holds your child’s spot. We offer three payment options – $1,100 payment in full before June 1st ($100 discount), two payments in September and January, or monthly payments. We will continue to process registrations and payments online. This year’s program has been a big hit – we can’t wait to continue to broaden the children’s horizons with Señora Dunn and Spanish fun!
